Levan Khabeishvili’s detention is driven by fear of the truth and of the October 4 rally.
No comrade will be abandoned, and Levan Khabeishvili will continue the struggle even from behind prison walls – we must move from the courthouse yard to Rustaveli Avenue and begin preparing more actively for the grand rally on October 4, – stated Levan Sanikidze, one of the leaders of Unity – National Movement.
According to him, in this struggle no comrade will be left behind, especially not Levan Khabeishvili.
“It is not surprising at all what Ivanishvili and his henchmen are doing now. It is more than obvious that this is driven by fear of the truth, by fear of the October 4 rally. The very same judge who issued the ruling must now apparently decide on the need for a preventive measure. This is a legal nonsense. The country officially has no Public Defender, not a single institution is functioning, but everyone must clearly understand that in this struggle no comrade will be abandoned, especially when we are talking about Levan Khabeishvili, who was one of the front-runners in the fight against Ivanishvili’s regime, and he will continue this from behind prison walls until the Georgian people take more initiative into their own hands, one expression of which will be today’s rally. I believe that many people should first gather in the courthouse yard and then move to Rustaveli Avenue, where we must start preparing more actively for the grand rally on October 4,” – said Levan Sanikidze.
For reference, according to the State Security Service, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, Levan Khabeishvili, was detained on charges of publicly promising money in the form of a bribe to officials. The agency states that Khabeishvili’s actions reveal all the elements of a crime under Article 339, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, and he was detained as a defendant on the basis of a judge’s ruling. The offense carries a penalty of 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
