Georgia’s Path Forward in Turbulent Times
The Georgian Parliament’s Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, Levan Makhashvili, spoke at a meeting held during the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s winter session. He emphasized the importance of unity and caution for small states like Georgia.
According to Makhashvili, Georgia learned that setting emotions aside and acting pragmatically was crucial in surviving the “geopolitical earthquake” caused by Russia’s actions. The country had to make difficult decisions over the past three years based on a clear understanding of the threats it faced.
Despite being labeled with various names by some, Makhashvili said Georgia was simply trying to survive. He cited the ongoing situation in Ukraine as proof that Georgia made the right decisions.
