International Criminal Court to Keep Investigating Russia’s Crimes in Ukraine
The International Criminal Court (ICC) will continue its work investigating Russia’s crimes in Ukraine. This was announced by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Heorhii Tykhyi.
Tykhyi made this statement after US President Donald Trump put sanctions on the ICC. The sanctions are because of the court’s investigations into the US and Israel. The US has frozen assets and banned travel for the ICC officials, staff, and their families who helped with the investigation.
The spokesperson said that Ukraine is not affected by these US decisions. He hopes they will not stop the ICC from achieving justice for Russia’s crimes in Ukraine.
Ukraine joined the ICC on January 1 and is now one of its member states. The ICC has already issued arrest warrants for several Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, for war crimes against Ukraine.
