**European Prosecutor Investigates EU Funds in Serbia**
The European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Codruța Kövesi, says her office is looking into the use of EU funds for rebuilding Serbia’s railways. She made this announcement on Serbian state TV (RTS).
Kövesi explained that her office started investigating after a private person complained about possible misuse of funds from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB is based in Belgium and Luxembourg, so the cases will be handled by courts there.
The prosecutor wants the Serbian judiciary to help gather information and evidence for the investigation. She sees this as a positive sign that the public is becoming aware of corruption issues in Serbia.
