**US Envoy Visits Ukraine Amid Tensions**

Keith Kellogg, the US special envoy for Ukraine, met with top Ukrainian military and government officials during his visit to the country. The meeting comes at a tense time as President Donald Trump adopts increasingly hostile rhetoric towards Ukraine.

On February 19, Kellogg met with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak, and intelligence and security chiefs. Yermak stressed that Kellogg should have complete information about the situation on the front lines and Ukraine’s ability to end the war.

**Peace Efforts**

Kellogg also met with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on February 20. They discussed ways towards a comprehensive peace, with Sybiha affirming Ukraine’s willingness to achieve peace through strength. Kellogg reiterated that security for Ukraine and the transatlantic region is indivisible.

The US envoy is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later on February 20. Zelensky suggested that Trump’s envoy could visit the front lines to inspect the situation.

**Russian Aggression**

Meanwhile, Russian aerial strikes targeted an energy facility in Ukraine, leaving 49,000 consumers without power. The US and EU have imposed sanctions on Russia for its actions.

Ukrainian officials expressed concern over the possibility of NATO military contingents being sent to Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that this would be a cause for concern.

**Support from Europe**

European leaders have expressed support for Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself against Russian aggression. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that it is wrong and dangerous to deny President Zelensky’s democratic legitimacy.

French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit Washington next week to meet with US President Donald Trump.
