“Generally speaking, the encouragement of violent groups and extremists from outside is not new to us—it is very serious and deeply offensive,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, responding to a question about the Georgian delegation’s non-participation in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly session.
According to him, the main platform for the country’s authorities is Georgia itself, its people, and their support.
“As for the platform, it is our country, our people, their decisions, and their support. I believe there is nothing more valuable or important than that. When you represent the country’s government, if you do not have the support and backing of the people, it is unimaginable to talk about anything, whether it’s maintaining peace, the country’s development, or economic progress.
Regarding the encouragement of violent groups and extremists in general, this is not new to us. External forces in the country, with the involvement of certain diplomats and a few individuals, directly encourage polarization, violent groups, and extremist organizations. This is very serious and deeply offensive, but the people see everything and always provide the appropriate response through elections,” Kaladze stated.
