In a recent interview with TV Pirveli, former Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze addressed the detention of several former employees from his agency and his relative by the State Security Service (SSS). Burchuladze strongly denied any political interest or agenda behind the ongoing events.
“I don’t think there’s any political interest or agenda here… I don’t feel any sense of artificiality,” he stated. The former minister emphasized that he had discussed the situation with former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and was confident that the truth would ultimately come to light. Burchuladze expressed his confidence in his colleagues’ innocence, stating that if they were involved in any wrongdoing, they should be punished.

When questioned about whether he believed the investigative agency was targeting him or had a personal interest in the case, Burchuladze denied any such motivations. “I don’t think there’s any political interest or agenda here… I don’t feel that, and I repeat, I don’t sense any artificiality,” he reiterated.
Burchuladze also downplayed the notion that the events were related to a fight against Irakli Gharibashvili. “I don’t think this concerns me now or the former Prime Minister in any way,” he stated.

The former minister confirmed that he had met with former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili recently, stating that they had a consultation to discuss information related to the issue. Burchuladze emphasized that the meeting was not about targeting him or the former prime minister but rather about sharing information.

When asked whether he had been summoned for questioning by the investigative agency, Burchuladze chose not to comment, citing the “classified” nature of the investigation process. He did reiterate his confidence in the truth coming to light and expressed his support for the punishment of any individuals involved in wrongdoing.
