Protests Continue in Tbilisi, Georgia
A protest is ongoing near the “Tbilisi Mall” in Georgia. People are gathering to express their discontent with the government’s actions.
According to Irakli Kupradze, a leader of the group “Strong Georgia,” people have the right to freedom of assembly and expression. He believes this is a peaceful way for citizens to show their resistance against the government.
Kupradze warned that the government can declare any area a “strategic facility” at any time, limiting people’s movements. Yesterday, police arrested a civil activist and journalist in Kutaisi for sharing a post on social media.
The protest is part of a long-standing issue with the Georgian government. Kupradze said every authoritarian regime works the same way – first, they restrict freedom of speech and assembly, then they use force to silence people.
