High-resolution, high-tech video cameras will be installed at all polling stations in Tbilisi, enabling us to expose and prevent so-called “carousel” voting and attempts at election rigging by the Georgian Dream party, announced Irakli Kupradze, the joint mayoral candidate for Tbilisi from the “Lelo-Strong Georgia” and “Gakharia for Georgia” coalition, during a briefing.
According to Kupradze, the opposition made “a series of mistakes” during the 2024 parliamentary elections, making it critical to correct these errors and ensure control over polling stations.
“During the 2024 parliamentary elections, we, the opposition, made several mistakes. Correcting these mistakes is crucial to exposing the Georgian Dream party’s criminal policies and actions against the Georgian people. One of the key factors is ensuring maximum control and monitoring at polling stations to catch Georgian Dream in the act of committing crimes at these locations.
In the 2024 parliamentary elections, which were rigged, our coalition relinquished every mandate and withdrew party lists. Since then, we have been working daily to improve oversight of the electoral process and ensure that every citizen’s vote is protected. Even under conditions of fraud, Tbilisi residents won, and in reality, we defeated Georgian Dream. In Tbilisi, Georgian Dream received 98,000 fewer votes than the pro-Western opposition. This is a clear sign and message that Georgian Dream is losing in the capital.
Today, within our capabilities, we are introducing high-tech, high-resolution video cameras that will be installed at every polling station in Tbilisi. These cameras will allow us to expose and prevent so-called carousels and attempts at election rigging by Georgian Dream. With these cameras, we will be able to fully monitor the electoral process, record it, and identify all serious criminal violations that Georgian Dream will inevitably attempt.
Every individual tasked by Georgian Dream’s violent regime to participate in election fraud must know that they will be identified. They will face criminal accountability before an independent judiciary and prosecutor’s office for the primary crime of robbing the future of Georgia’s and Tbilisi’s citizens by rigging elections. Our fight will not stop. The rest depends solely on the people of Tbilisi and Georgia’s citizens, who must seize every opportunity to stand against the Russian regime and Ivanishvili,” stated Irakli Kupradze.
