**Georgian Dream Nominates Tbilisi’s Most Corrupt Mayor for Third Term**
The Georgian Dream party has officially nominated Kakha Kaladze, the city’s most corrupt mayor in history, as its candidate for a third term as Tbilisi’s mayor. This decision has been met with strong opposition from Irakli Kupradze, Secretary General of Lelo-Strong Georgia.
According to Kupradze, Georgians should not allow Tbilisi, a pro-European city, to be led by a pro-Russian mayor like Kaladze, who faces numerous accusations and questions. “Georgian Dream has once again nominated the most corrupt mayor in the history of this city as its candidate for the mayoralty of Tbilisi,” Kupradze stated at a briefing.
Kaladze’s legacy is marked by total corruption, violation of citizens’ interests, and destruction of the city through developer-backed projects that have enriched his team members. Under his rule, the Tbilisi budget has been squandered, social guarantees have been destroyed, and poverty has risen significantly. The city now has 153,000 socially vulnerable people living in poverty.
Kupradze emphasized that Kaladze’s leadership is responsible for the following issues:
* Clogged traffic jams
* Thousands of homeless dogs posing a threat to the population
* Overwhelming waiting lists for social benefits, with 42,000 residents relying on soup kitchens and thousands more unable to access food due to lengthy waiting periods.
* Collapsed metro stations (Varketili and Guramishvili) and faulty infrastructure
* Increased fines for bus travel, parking, and city services, resulting in tens of millions of lari being taken from Tbilisi residents’ pockets each year.
“The conditions that Kakha Kaladze made have been broken and criminally altered, only in favor of Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Georgian Dream,” Kupradze stated. He urged citizens to ensure that Tbilisi remains a pro-European city, not led by a pro-Russian mayor with a questionable legacy.
The Georgian Dream party will officially nominate Kakha Kaladze as its candidate for Tbilisi mayor at an event starting at 21:00 on Mtatsminda today.
