It is very sad when a specific ambassador, especially the EU ambassador, directly tries to incite radicalism and polarization in our country, – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told the media when answering a question related to the EU Ambassador, Pawel Herczyński.
According to the head of government, the EU ambassador was directly involved in inciting radicalism and polarization.
“This is also a case when it is no longer interesting to comment on a specific ambassador. This person, unfortunately, was directly involved in inciting radicalism and polarization. It is very sad that the negative face of European bureaucracy is visible in such a case. It is very sad when a specific ambassador, especially the EU ambassador, directly tries to incite radicalism and polarization in our country. This is very sad and regrettable. I would not comment further on this, I simply do not consider it necessary,” – said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the head of government, the government will not allow anyone to “cast a shadow on the country’s democratic system.”
“The EU press spokesperson, the face of the European bureaucracy, came out and directly supported the October 4 rally associated with overthrowing. What more radical support can one imagine than this? The facts speak for themselves. However, in the end, such steps by the European bureaucracy will not be successful, but rather our statehood will become even stronger, and the Georgian people will be more mobilized against any interference in our internal affairs. We will not allow anyone to cast a shadow on our democratic system. No one can successfully attack Georgian democracy,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the statement of the European Commission spokesperson is “inciting radicalism, direct, crude interference in our internal affairs, inciting polarization, society will evaluate all this.”
According to the Prime Minister, the most regrettable thing is that, against the background of such statements, trust in the European Union is decreasing in Georgian society.
“The most regrettable thing is that such facts contribute to a radical decrease in trust in European structures and bureaucracy, and the most regrettable thing is that trust in the European Union is also decreasing in Georgian society against the background of such statements. This is the most regrettable thing. I think that this process should be stopped, but we cannot do this unilaterally. If European bureaucrats do not stop making such self-destructive statements, of course, this process will continue,” the Prime Minister said.
