Summoning the German ambassador is a diplomatic measure, a measure taken when the ambassador serving in Georgia grossly violates the principles of the Vienna Convention, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Telavi regarding the summoning of the German ambassador by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“As for the summoning of the German ambassador, this is a diplomatic measure, a measure when the ambassador acting in Georgia grossly violates the principles of the Vienna Convention, this is how he is summoned. This is a normal diplomatic measure. If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes, it will make a detailed comment on this. In general, I would like to remind you that Mr. Fischer is directly involved in the activities of the radical opposition, is directly trying to put pressure on the independent judiciary,” the Prime Minister said.
The German ambassador, Peter Fischer, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As the ambassador stated before entering the ministry, this is the first time in the history of modern Georgian relations with Germany that a German ambassador has been summoned to the ministry.
