**Georgian Prime Minister Wants to Fight Corruption and Treason**
The prime minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, said that the country needs to confront traitors in politics with specific laws. He thinks that many people in Georgian politics are not loyal to their country.
Kobakhidze explained why his government wants to add an article about treason back into the Criminal Code. In 2008, just before a war started between Georgia and Russia, the previous government tried to remove this article from the law. The new government adopted the change after the war ended.
Kobakhidze believes that some people were afraid of being charged with treason during the war, so they wanted to get rid of the law. He thinks it’s very important to have this law again to prevent traitors from harming Georgia.
**New Laws to Protect National Security**
The prime minister also talked about other new laws that his government is proposing. These laws are aimed at protecting national security and preventing threats to the country.
Kobakhidze said that these laws are part of an “anti-Deep State” package, which means they’re designed to stop any secret plans or activities that might harm Georgia. He thinks it’s essential for the government to have control over its own security and to protect the country from all kinds of threats.
**Adding Article on Treason to the Criminal Code**
The article on treason will be added back into the Criminal Code, as decided by the ruling party, Georgian Dream. The leader of this party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, explained that the previous government, National Movement, had removed this article from the law.
