“Prisoners who are called prisoners of conscience are, in reality, under specific charges due to unconscionable actions,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists.
According to the head of government, nearly 1,000 people were involved in violence during the protest rallies in November of last year, and out of those, only 30 have been detained, which indicates high standards.
“There is effective justice in Georgia, which ensures that cases are resolved in accordance with standards and legislation. Nearly 1,000 people were involved in violence at the end of November and the beginning of December last year, and out of those, only 30 have been detained, which points to high standards. In reality, Georgia has a high standard of investigation and judiciary, and it is precisely because of this that the figure is only 3%. You remember the scale of violence that took place at the end of last year, and against the backdrop of that scale of violence, only 30 prisoners indicate precisely these high standards,” the Prime Minister stated.
