**US President Trump’s Letter to Georgia’s Kavelashvili Reflects Shared Values, Says Georgian PM**
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has spoken out about a letter sent by US President Donald Trump to Mikheil Kavelashvili on May 26. According to Kobakhidze, the letter reflected the common values that bind the Georgian government and the US administration.
In his comments, Kobakhidze noted that while two letters from the US had been published in Georgia, only one of them – the congratulatory letter from President Trump – truly represented a genuine effort to strengthen relations between the two countries. The first letter, sent on behalf of the State Department, was seen as an attempt to activate opposition rallies, but it ultimately failed to achieve its goal.
**A Letter Not Worthy of Public Display**
Interestingly, Kobakhidze pointed out that the US Embassy in Georgia has not yet published President Trump’s congratulatory letter on its website. This is despite the fact that four days have passed since the letter was sent. “You can see that we are talking about two letters,” said Kobakhidze. “The first letter served only one purpose, to activate the opposition rally on May 26. However, you can see that no more than 3,000 people came to that rally despite maximum mobilization, neither the letter nor maximum mobilization helped.”
**US Senator Steve Daines’ Visit: A Meeting with a Difference**
Kobakhidze also responded to the visit of US Senator Steve Daines to Georgia. The senator met with both the opposition and the government during his visit. According to Kobakhidze, “the opposition is in a funny state.” He explained that the opposition knew that the senator had planned a meeting with the government, but they chose to lie about it anyway.
**A Renewed Partnership: The Georgian Government’s Stance**
Kobakhidze emphasized that the Georgian government is completely open to consultations and wants to renew its strategic partnership with the US from a clean slate. He stated that this would involve a specific roadmap and could not be blocked by bureaucratic barriers.
In conclusion, Kobakhidze expressed confidence that President Trump would prevail over any opposition and that the renewal of Georgian-American relations was inevitable.
