**Georgian Prime Minister Speaks Out on Gakharia’s Uncertain Future**
In a recent press conference, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed the confusing situation surrounding fugitive and former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia. According to Kobakhidze, Gakharia is caught between wanting to be in the country and not wanting to participate in the upcoming elections due to his slim chances of winning.
Kobakhidze pointed out that Gakharia’s party and the entire opposition are in complete uncertainty regarding their future. “Gakharia cannot understand himself what he wants,” Kobakhidze said. “He wants to be in the country, but he does not want to be in the country. He wants to participate in the elections, but he does not want to, due to the fact that his chances are quite weakened.” This internal conflict within Gakharia and his party has led to confusion among supporters and the public at large.
**The Role of Patrons in Georgian Politics**
Kobakhidze also touched on the role of patrons in Georgian politics. According to him, it was the patrons who primarily brought Gakharia’s party into the country, with the government playing a secondary role. “So far, these political parties have been brought here primarily by their patrons,” Kobakhidze said. “Of course, we have also helped, but first of all, special merit in all this goes to the patrons of the radical opposition.”
**The Failure of Zourabishvili’s Leadership Project**
In addition, Kobakhidze spoke about the failure of a project called “Zourabishvili’s leadership in the radical opposition.” This project was led by former President Salome Zourabishvili and aimed to unify the radical opposition. However, according to Kobakhidze, internal conflicts between Zourabishvili and other radical political subjects led to the project’s complete failure. “This was expected and, of course, this conflict will intensify even more,” Kobakhidze said.
