Government to Reform Universities in Georgia

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has announced plans to create a government commission that will work on university reform. The goal is to transform the higher education system in the country within four years.

According to Kobakhidze, the quality of higher education in Georgia is not good enough right now. He believes that by using all available resources effectively, it’s possible for Georgian students to receive the same level of education as those in European countries.

A plan will be drawn up and a government commission will work on this task. The Minister of Education, Aleksandre Tsuladze, will lead the commission as its deputy head. Levan Izoria, an Advisor to the Prime Minister on Education and Science, will serve as secretary.

Kobakhidze emphasized that time is of the essence. He urged for intensive work over the next four years to achieve the set goal.
