“Remember one thing—you owe thanks to every member of the majority for giving you the right at all to sit here today and be called deputies of the Parliament of Georgia,” said Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority, addressing members of “Gakharia – For Georgia” at the plenary session of the autumn session, who have entered Parliament.
According to Kirtskhalia, for the next three years, the deputy members of “Gakharia – For Georgia” will have to justify themselves and prove that they are “not the Nats” (National Movement).
“The delay in entering Parliament has its reasons, and we have said to our society more than once that this is part of the scenario in which this unit, from the ‘collective National Movement,’ was assigned its natural role—and that natural role is betrayal. A clear example is your leader, who has fled the country. It was your patrons who, with a one-year delay, assigned you a place in this scenario with that role. As for the period before your entry here and the cleverly crafted message box that supposedly only your 8% is legitimate—remember one thing: you owe thanks to every member of the majority for giving you the right at all to sit here today and be called deputies of the Parliament of Georgia. But also remember clearly and distinctly that we respected the voters whom you deceived before the elections, claiming you represented some different political force and not the force you actually were, nor fulfilling the order that society saw very well. This became evident after one year. Look at your rating in the parliamentary elections and compare it to your rating in the local self-government elections. Also remember clearly that we respected our population who were deceived by you and gave you their votes—because this is our responsibility to the country and the nation. As for your attachment to the ‘National Movement,’ no matter how much you justify that you do not support this idea and are not one force—this was proven just a few days after the parliamentary elections ended, and you proved it to your voters by signing that treacherous letter sent to Brussels, where you demanded punishment for your own country and your own voters. This is your true face, and this is your leader’s true face. Remember one thing: from today, for the next three years, you will have to justify yourselves every day that you are not ‘Nats’ and do not share this idea,” Kirtskhalia stated.
