“PACE should first stand up, acknowledge the election results, and condemn the fact that they planned to organize terrorism against democracy on election day here. Let them stop looking at Georgia with half-blinded eyes,” said Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, to journalists.
According to him, PACE and those above them have a political goal to bring to power in Georgia, at any cost, a force that will act as a puppet, and for this reason, they look at everything with blinded eyes.
Kadagishvili stated that this is their problem, not ours.
“Whose human rights have been violated in Georgia?! In every case taken to the European Court, Georgia has been proven absolutely right. The fact that some people incite the population here to attack the police and open fire in the parliament, and then the law holds them accountable, is not a violation of human rights. This is the protection of democracy, the state, and, among other things, society and human rights. PACE should first stand up and acknowledge the election results confirmed by the same OSCE/ODIHR monitoring. PACE should first stand up and condemn the fact that they planned to organize terrorism against democracy on election day here. Let them stop looking at Georgia with half-blinded eyes. If they want democracy in Georgia, they should support democracy, not a terrorist movement directed against democracy, which actually hinders democracy. PACE and those above them have a political goal they cannot abandon—to bring to power in Georgia, at any cost, a force that will be a puppet. For this purpose, they look at everything with blinded eyes. That is their problem, not ours,” Kadagishvili stated.
For reference, debates on Georgia will be held tomorrow at the Council of Europe. According to information published on the organization’s website, PACE monitoring co-rapporteurs for Georgia, Edite Estrela (Portugal, Socialists, Democrats, and Greens Group) and Sabina Cudic (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe), will present a resolution titled: “Support for Democracy and the Rule of Law in Georgia.” The draft resolution text notes that the Assembly is deeply concerned that the Georgian authorities systematically ignore its concerns and recommendations regarding the democratic crisis in Georgia, which are shared by the international community. The document also addresses the upcoming local elections in Georgia.
