**Russia’s Aerial Attacks Continue to Plague Ukraine**
In a devastating turn of events, Russian attacks have claimed the lives of at least 13 civilians and injured 46 more across Ukraine over the past 24 hours. The attacks were part of a massive aerial assault that saw Russia launch 623 weapons overnight, including drones and cruise missiles.
**Aerial Defenses Repel Many Attacks**
According to Ukrainian Air Force officials, their defenses downed 344 of the incoming attacks, including 319 Shahed-type drones and 25 missiles. Additionally, 258 decoy drones disappeared from radar or were intercepted by electronic warfare. While these numbers are impressive, they also highlight the sheer scale of Russia’s aerial campaign.
**Regional Breakdown**
The attacks were reported in multiple regions across Ukraine. In Chernivtsi Oblast, two people were killed and four seriously wounded in the city of Chernivtsi. Ten more sustained minor injuries. Multiple residential buildings, administrative buildings, shops, and cars were damaged in the city, as well as one house and a vehicle in the Storozhynets community.
In Kharkiv Oblast, four people were injured in strikes across Kharkiv city and nearby towns. Russian forces used glide bombs and various drones, damaging a university building, apartment blocks, cars, and critical infrastructure in several districts.
In Sumy Oblast, four civilians were wounded in drone and artillery attacks on multiple communities. Over 60 attacks hit 35 settlements, causing damage to houses, vehicles, and utility infrastructure.
**Casualties and Damage Reported**
The death toll was reported in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where three people died in separate air and artillery strikes. In Lviv Oblast, six people were injured in Russian strikes on the city of Lviv, including an 11-year-old boy. Two industrial sites caught fire, and damage was reported to residential buildings.
In Kherson Oblast, two civilians were killed, and eight were injured as Russian forces shelled and used drones against more than 30 towns and villages. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, two civilians were also killed in Russian attacks, which saw 566 strikes across 16 settlements.
**President Zelensky Condemns Attacks**
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks and reiterated calls for increased international support for air defense systems. He stressed that Russia’s aerial campaign demands swift decisions from the international community to curb its destructive power.
“The pace of Russia’s aerial strikes demands swift decisions – and it can be curbed through sanctions right now,” Zelensky wrote. “More air defense systems are needed, along with investments in interceptor drones, which are already delivering good results.”
