“Until the end! To save Georgia!” — under this slogan, citizens are marching from the 300 Aragvians Memorial to Rustaveli Avenue.
The protesters, who have been demonstrating continuously on Rustaveli Avenue for 300 days, gathered symbolically at the 300 Aragvians monument.
According to those gathered, for 300 days Georgian citizens have been demanding that the government return to the “constitutional framework and stop the terror carried out against citizens.”
They say that state institutions in the country are acting against the people.
According to them, after 300 days of protest, the government should have announced new elections. Instead, it only takes escalating steps and makes no constructive or compromising moves, which is why the situation is becoming increasingly tense.
“For 300 days, Georgian citizens have been asking their own government to return to the constitutional framework and stop the terror directed against citizens. We have turned into a terrorist state, where state institutions are directed against the people.
The first demand is that the government return to its constitutional framework. The second demand is the announcement of new parliamentary elections. After so many days of protest, the government should have called new elections if it really wanted to resolve the problem in the country. Instead, we get escalating steps. Not a single constructive move, not a single compromising step has been taken. The situation is only escalating; they have shifted to a regime of terror. Therefore, the situation cannot normalize.
Nor can the protest end. We cannot decide to accept all this and disperse to our homes. Of course, the protest will continue; it did not arise without reason — the author of the protest is the government itself. How the protest will be resolved and in what form it will continue depends on the government,” said one of the rally participants.
Near the Parliament, where the marchers will arrive, a screening will be held of a film about visa liberalization, as well as videos prepared about activists detained during the protests.
