**MP Slams European Parliament’s Resolution on Georgia**

Guram Macharashvili, a member of the People’s Power party in Georgia’s parliament, has strongly criticized the European Parliament’s recent resolution on his country. In an interview with journalists, he stated that the EU’s decision-making process is “insulting European values” and creating “European nihilism” in Georgia.

**The Resolution: A Last Resort?**

Macharashvili argued that the European Parliament’s resolution, which demands new elections in Georgia and the release of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, has lost all value. He pointed out that no one pays attention to such resolutions anymore, neither in Georgia nor abroad. The MP believes that this is because the EU bureaucracy has run out of options, and these resolutions are now their only remaining tool.

**Election Results: A Fact-Check**

The MP also highlighted that after the 2024 elections, the OSCE/ODIHR concluded that the elections were competitive, with no evidence of election fraud. Despite this fact, the European Parliament’s resolution still calls for new elections and Saakashvili’s release. This, according to Macharashvili, makes such resolutions entirely worthless.

**Georgia’s Pragmatic Course**

Macharashvili emphasized that Georgia’s agenda is focused on peace, economic development, and strengthening international partnerships, including recalibrating relations with the United States. He hopes for a pragmatic course forward, rather than being bogged down by European Parliament resolutions that he sees as pointless.
