**Georgia’s Opposition Leader Slams GORBI Surveys as “Distorted” and “Funny”**
In a recent interview with PalitraNews, Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of Lelo-Strong Georgia, expressed his skepticism towards the GORBI surveys conducted in the country. According to him, these surveys have never been reliable or accurate.
Gegelia stated that he finds it “funny” that some opposition colleagues made statements based on the distorted numbers presented by the GORBI surveys. He wondered why they would go to such lengths to draw political conclusions from a survey that is inherently flawed. Gegelia emphasized that the numbers presented by GORBI are often written in the Georgian Dream party’s offices, and therefore cannot be taken seriously.
**GORBI Surveys: A Tool for Propaganda?**
Gegelia suggested that the opposition parties’ reaction to the GORBI surveys might be seen as a form of propaganda for the ruling Georgian Dream party. He expressed his disappointment with some colleagues who lack patience, foresight, and strategic ability to avoid making assessments based on flawed data.
**Lelo-Strong Georgia’s Decision to Participate in Local Elections**
Despite Gegelia’s skepticism towards GORBI surveys, he emphasized that his party has made a collective decision to participate in the local self-government elections. He believes that this method of struggle is an important tool for creating democracy within the country.
Gegelia noted that high internal democracy within a political group is essential for creating democracy in the country as a whole. If parties cannot practice democratic principles internally, it will be challenging for them to do so when they enter government positions.
**Detention of Former Deputy Defense Minister: A Lustration of the System**
Gegelia also commented on the recent detention of former Deputy Defense Minister Giorgi Khaindrava and two other individuals in connection with the illegal embezzlement of funds from the Georgian Defense Ministry. He described this incident as a “good lustration” of the entire system.
Gegelia emphasized that the scale of corruption within the country’s institutions is massive, involving thousands of people and millions of dollars. He expressed concern for those who are suffering due to the corrupt practices, including the elderly and those who are struggling to survive.
**A Call for Transparency and Accountability**
In conclusion, Gegelia urged for transparency and accountability within the country’s institutions. He emphasized that it is essential to address the scale of corruption and hold those responsible accountable. As he noted, “imagine the scale we are talking about… how many people’s money [we are talking about].”
