Grigol Gegelia, the Foreign Secretary of “Strong Georgia,” accuses the “Georgian Dream” government of failing to meet the European Union’s requirements and states that the ruling party bears full responsibility for the potential loss of visa-free travel.
According to Gegelia, the government is not taking steps to fulfill even the minimum conditions set by Brussels or to send a positive signal toward Europe.
“We see that the ‘Georgian Dream’ government is doing nothing to meet even the minimum conditions set by the European Union. This is clear confirmation that, in the event of a potential loss of visa-free travel, the full responsibility lies with ‘Georgian Dream,’ as its actions are judged in the civilized world. They are doing nothing to ensure even the minimum is met or to send a positive signal toward Europe.
On the contrary, we see more and more political prisoners, and human rights are being trampled underfoot. We see that new elections have not been scheduled, and the anti-democratic legislation they adopted has not been repealed. Practically nothing has been done to preserve visa-free travel,” Gegelia stated.
