The “Girchi” party has nominated Iago Khvichia as its candidate for Tbilisi Mayor. The candidacy was announced by Herman Sabo, who stated that the decision was made based on the results of a primary election.
On the same day, the candidates for Tbilisi City Council were also named: Dato Panjakidze, Giorgi Gvenetadze, and Eka Oniani.
According to Iago Khvichia, Sandro Rakviashvili will serve as the head of the party’s election campaign and the candidate for deputy mayor.
Khvichia stated that “Girchi” is ready to participate in debates with any political party or candidate, provided the discussion focuses on Tbilisi’s well-being. He emphasized that Tbilisi should become a metropolis and the economic center of the Caucasus.
“I thank those who deemed me worthy to stand here. The reason you should vote for me is this team with which I will stand before the Tbilisi electorate. No one else has Sandro Rakviashvili, Herman Sabo, Dato Panjakidze, Giorgi Gvenetadze, or Eka Oniani. These people have been selected based on their principles, morality, and qualifications. We can boldly say that we are ready to sit down with any individual or political party in any debate concerning the city’s well-being.
We are the only party that wants this city to become a metropolis. Most politicians are ‘fumbling’ to turn it into a village. We want to free Tbilisi from unnecessary burdens. We don’t want this city to become a village but a New York. Tbilisi should be the economic center of the Caucasus.
We are the only party that does not threaten revenge. We are the people who say we need to reconcile. We are the only party that says we are ready for cooperation,” Iago Khvichia stated during his speech.
