“Just as I could not have been near the so-called ‘green border’ where I was supposedly detained, I could not have organized any attack on myself,” said Giorgi Bachiashvili, former head of the Co-Investment Fund, in response to a statement from the Special Penitentiary Service. The statement suggested that specific penitentiary employees, inmates under their influence, and Giorgi Bachiashvili may have acted in collusion regarding a confrontation that occurred in his cell.
Bachiashvili notes that it is possible that individuals known to him, who are also in the penitentiary facility, may be placed in his cell to exert pressure on him.
“The authorities continue their series of crimes, and this time they seek to cover up one of their brutal systemic crimes with another fabrication. Just as I could not have been near the so-called ‘green border’ where I was supposedly detained, I could not have organized any attack on myself.
Let me remind you that a few days before the attack, the prosecution first cut off my telephone communication with my family and lawyers, then the prison director made well-known demands, and afterward, a convicted individual was brought into my cell who attacked me immediately upon entering without any prior provocation. I also have information that the regime intends to place people I know, who may be in the penitentiary facility, in my cell to continue exerting pressure and controlling communication. In such a case, I will immediately make this information public. Any communication with me can only take place through my lawyers,” said Giorgi Bachiashvili in a statement disseminated by his lawyer.
Giorgi Bachiashvili: Just as I could not have been at the “green border,” where they allegedly arrested me, I could not have organized an attack on myself – the regime wants to place my acquaintances in the same cell with me and continue exerting pressure through this method
