Former Head of Co-Investment Fund Leaves Georgia

Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, has left Georgia. He spoke to TV Pirveli about his decision.

Bachiashvili said that he used “holes in the system” to leave the country. This means that he took advantage of weaknesses or mistakes made by people and organizations within the government system. When asked if this included the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Bachiashvili replied that he had indeed used holes in the system, including people.

Bachiashvilli has been critical of the country’s governance system before. He said that it is “shaky” and that people working in it are no longer motivated to do their jobs well. This makes it difficult for anyone, including border guards or police officers, to work effectively.

Bachiashvili’s family members are currently living in Europe. He did not say which country he is in now.

The former head of the Co-Investment Fund left Georgia on March 4, announcing his departure via social media. The prosecutor in Bachiashvilli’s case said that his passport had been confiscated and he was prohibited from leaving the country. However, an investigation will be launched to look into this situation.
