Giga Bokeria, one of the leaders of the Federalists, has apologized for the opinion expressed by Tamar Chergoleishvili on social media, noting that “such a response is categorically unacceptable”.
As he states, it is precisely because Tamar Chergoleishvili is a prominent leader of their political team that he also must apologize.
In addition, Bokeria calls the fact a “serious mistake”.
“I would like to respond to two issues. The first concerns Tamar Chergoleishvili’s comment on social media in response to the obscene slander against her. Such a response is categorically unacceptable.
We often encounter dirty accusations on social media, but this in no way justifies Tamar’s reaction. She quickly apologized to the public. Tamar Chergoleishvili is an outstanding leader of our political team, and therefore I also owe an apology for this incident. Explaining the anatomy of this unacceptable reaction does not serve to justify it – it only explains the cause of a serious mistake.
The second issue is the use of this incident by the National Movement and public figures affiliated with it. It is obvious that they considered this incident a convenient pretext.
The National Movement finds it difficult to cooperate in any way where their party and their leader, the political prisoner Mikheil Saakashvili, do not occupy a central place and where the irresponsible steps or statements of their leader and other figures are openly criticized. This is accompanied by a deep crisis within this party. The Federalists have always considered it necessary and continue to consider it necessary to respond critically to what, in our opinion, harms the protest movement. At the same time, we consider it necessary to cooperate between political forces with different views, and sometimes even different values, on issues that unite us. Such was and is the task of delegitimizing the so-called October 4 self-government elections farce set by the Ivanishvili regime.
Currently, our priority is the September 13 protest rally and the expansion of the protest movement after that, which should end with the removal of Ivanishvili’s regime from power,” Giga Bokeria noted.
For information, the leader of the Federalists party, Tamar Chergoleishvili, responded to the authors of the insulting comments against her in her Facebook comments using photos of their children.
Later, Tamar Chergoleishvili apologized and wrote on Facebook, “I will not do this again – I will say it differently.”
In connection with the above, the chairwoman of the United National Movement, Tina Bokuchava, appealed to the parties in the Eight format to make a decision to end relations with Tamar Chergoleishvili.
