The fact is that those who committed crime, have betrayed the common idea, the interests of Georgia, the team and the principles on which we had a firm agreement – no corruption, no enrichment, and especially at the expense of the budget and people, this was our principle – there will be no tolerance, since all this is done against the state and actually concerns each of us, our families and the issue of national security, – this is how the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Gia Volski responded to the search of the apartments, houses and personal belongings of Irakli Gharibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, and Otar Partskhaladze.
According to Volski, this fact is very difficult for both the team and its leader, although the investigation has quite solid evidence to win this case in court.
“It is very emotional for the entire team, and especially emotional for the leader of the Georgian Dream. Personal relationships are always valued in Georgia and leave a serious mark on people’s relations. In this case, what we are watching is difficult, but the fact is that those who committed crime, have betrayed the common idea, the interests of Georgia, the team and the principles on which we had a firm agreement – no corruption, no enrichment, and especially not at the expense of the budget and people. This was our principle and we will uphold this principle and with this principle we are among the leaders in the world in the fight against corruption. If during this fight a former or current teammate or like-minded person, especially a high-ranking official, is exposed, this is a tragedy for us and, in addition, it is an indicator of the principle, the policy that the Georgian Dream will pursue in the future. There will be no tolerance, because all this is done against the state and actually concerns each of us, our families, the issue of national security. I have personally said many times that I cannot imagine it, but the fact is that the investigation has a fairly solid set of evidence to win this case in court. This, on the one hand, is a manifestation of the principle and policy that the Georgian Dream had and still firmly defends today and will firmly defend in the future, but, on the other hand, it is a very difficult feeling, personal, emotional, for all of us, especially for the leader of our team,” Volski said.
