**Opposition Parties Face Tough Decision in Local Elections**

As the country prepares for local elections, opposition parties are facing a difficult choice: participate or boycott. Political analyst Gia Khukhashvili has weighed in on the matter, drawing a historical parallel to illustrate his point.

“We’re talking about themes like why the 300 Aragvians went into battle despite slim chances,” he said. “It’s clear the environment is unfair, but an honorable death is better than a wretched life.” Khukhashvili is suggesting that, even in the face of adversity, it’s worth taking a stand and fighting for what you believe in.

**A Boycott: A Symbolic but Ineffective Move?**

Khukhashvili noted that while boycotting local elections might be emotionally understandable, people are skeptical about its effectiveness. “Society, including its critical segments, is looking for opportunities to change things in the country,” he explained. “A boycott is understandable emotionally, but people doubt it can achieve anything.” By participating in local elections, opposition parties may have a small chance of making a difference.

Khukhashvili compared this situation to historical battles where the odds were against those who fought. “You may lose something in a serious fight, but you shouldn’t refuse to fight,” he said. “We discuss examples like why the 300 Aragvians fought despite low odds.” The analyst believes that local elections offer a similar opportunity for opposition parties to make their voices heard.

**Chorchana Case: A Politically Motivated Vendetta?**

Khukhashvili also addressed the questioning of former Interior Minister Vano Gomelauri in the Chorchana case, suggesting that the authorities have a directive to politically punish Giorgi Gakharia. “The Chorchana issue is politically motivated,” he stated. “It’s clear… I think it’s no longer just political; it’s a personal vendetta.” Khukhashvili believes that the authorities are trying to carry out this order, making it difficult to discern their true motives.
