**Russia’s Heavy Losses in Ukraine**
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported that Russia has lost 809,760 troops since February 24, 2022. This number includes 1,510 casualties in the past day alone.
In addition to troop losses, Russia has also lost a significant amount of military equipment. According to the report, they have lost:
* 9,764 tanks
* 20,315 armored fighting vehicles
* 33,708 vehicles and fuel tanks
* 21,876 artillery systems
* 1,261 multiple launch rocket systems
* 1,044 air defense systems
* 369 airplanes
* 331 helicopters
* 22,204 drones
* 28 ships and boats
* 1 submarine
**Russian Drones Strike Civilian Infrastructure**
On January 12, Russian drones struck civilian infrastructure in Sumy Oblast, resulting in multiple casualties.
**Germany Denies Blocking Military Aid Package**
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius denied reports that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz blocked a proposal for an additional military aid package for Ukraine worth 3 billion euros.
**Sweden Increases Military Presence**
In response to suspected sabotage of several underwater cables, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced that Sweden will increase its military presence in the Baltic Sea through the deployment of three warships and a radar reconnaissance aircraft.
