**Gazans Face Harsh Reality as Future is Debated**

The small town of Jabalia in Gaza has been left devastated after a long conflict. Buildings are destroyed, and rubble fills the streets. But despite the destruction, people are starting to rebuild their lives.

One resident, Nabil, has returned to his four-story house. It’s still standing, but it needs windows, doors, and walls. He and his family have made a makeshift balcony out of wooden pallets and tarpaulin to keep dry. “How can we leave?” Nabil says. “We need to rebuild this for our children.”

Water and electricity are scarce in Jabalia. Many residents, like Laila Ahmed Okasha, have to travel far to get what they need. She blames Israel and Hamas for destroying the world she once knew.

The future of Gaza’s people is now a topic of discussion among world leaders. Donald Trump suggested that the US should take over Gaza and that nearly two million Palestinians might need to leave. But many Arab leaders strongly disagree with this plan.

Residents like Laila say they want to travel on their own, not because of any plan. She wants to see her granddaughter learn and grow. Sanaa Abu Ishbak, a seamstress, refuses to leave Jabalia camp. “I love this place,” she says. “And I won’t leave it till I die.”

Laila is worried about the lack of education in Gaza. Her granddaughter can’t even write her own name because there are no schools. Laila hopes that one day she’ll be able to travel and see her family grow.
