**US and Ukraine Fail to Agree on Natural Resources Deal**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. They were expected to finalize a framework deal on Ukraine’s natural resources, but no agreement was reached.
The meeting ended after a 45-minute press briefing turned into a heated exchange between the two leaders. Trump said Zelensky “disrespected” the US and that he “is not ready for peace.” Zelensky left the White House early without signing the minerals deal, which had been the focus of weeks of negotiations.
**Leaders Around the World Show Support for Ukraine**
After the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron said Russia is the aggressor in its war against Ukraine. He added that those who helped and were fighting since the beginning should be respected and thanked.
Ukrainian leader Zelensky spoke by phone with Macron, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and others after his clash with Trump. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine, calling Zelensky “strong” and “brave.”
**EU Leaders Stand United**
The EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized that the free world needs a new leader and that it is up to Europeans to take this challenge. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Germany stands united with Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu said Russia invaded Ukraine and is the aggressor, while Czech President Petr Pavel expressed strong support for Ukraine. Officials from Spain, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, and the Netherlands also reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine in the wake of the White House meeting.
