**EU Plans to End Russian Fossil Fuels**
The European Commission is working on a plan to remove all Russian fossil fuels from the EU’s energy market. Despite efforts, gas from Russia still reaches Europe.
According to Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, the EU’s energy and housing spokesperson, work on a roadmap to phase out Russian fossil fuels is ongoing. The deadline for this task is within 100 days.
The EU has already made progress in reducing its reliance on Russian energy. Gas imports have decreased significantly, coal imports from Russia are zero, and oil imports are mostly gone.
However, some Russian gas still reaches the EU market. This remains a concern that will be addressed by the upcoming roadmap.
