**Coalition for Change Leader Calls for Unity Against Fake Local Self-Government Elections**

The upcoming local self-government elections in Georgia have become a major challenge for the unity of the country’s political spectrum. Elene Khoshtaria, a leader of the Coalition for Change, expressed hope that all opposition parties and the president would join forces to close this issue once and for all.

According to Khoshtaria, the only way to defeat the Russian-backed regime is through non-cooperation and unity among the opposition. “It’s precisely through this non-cooperation, by not giving legitimacy to this regime, that we will achieve both internal and external pressure on the regime, which will ultimately bring them down,” she said.

**A Principled Struggle**

Khoshtaria emphasized that the Coalition for Change is committed to a principled struggle against the Russian-backed regime. She highlighted the example of three leaders of the coalition – Zura Japaridze, Nika Melia, and Nika Gvaramia – who have taken bold steps in resisting the regime.

Zura Japaridze was arrested without access to a lawyer, while Nika Melia was “kidnapped” (in Khoshtaria’s words) rather than being arrested. Nika Gvaramia, on the other hand, voluntarily went to prison instead of causing any inconvenience to his team or others.

**A Call for Unity and Protest**

Khoshtaria called on all activists and political prisoners to know that they have the support of the Coalition for Change. She emphasized the importance of a common national protest against the fake local self-government elections, which are seen as a fabricated process concocted by the Russian regime.

Yesterday’s surveys showed that 70% of Tbilisi residents are opposed to this fake process. Khoshtaria expressed hope that with unity and non-cooperation, the issue would be closed, and the people would be able to defeat the Russians in Georgia.
