**Serb Journalist Groups on General Strike**
A group called the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) is supporting Serbian journalist organizations that are taking part in a general strike.
The EFJ says it supports the journalists because they were responding to a call for “general civil disobedience” after 15 people died in a tragic accident at a train station in Novi Sad.
**Journalist Groups Stand Against Minister**
The EFJ also condemned threats made by Serbia’s Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Dejan Ristic. The minister had accused a group called the Serbian Coalition for Media Freedom of working against the public interest.
Around 80 newsrooms in Serbia are on strike today in response to the minister’s actions. The EFJ says this is not right and that the minister should not be interfering with journalists.
**Solidarity from Journalists Around the World**
Many journalists at an EFJ workshop in France showed their support for the Serbian Coalition for Media Freedom by signing a letter of solidarity.
