**Police Raid NGOs Investigating USAID Funding**
A group of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Belgrade was raided by police on Tuesday. The police searched four offices, including those of CRTA and the Civic Initiative.
The NGOs say that pro-regime media outlets knew about the raids before they happened. CRTA said in a statement: “We hereby confirm that the police came to our office today. We are fully cooperating with the state authorities.” They questioned how this information was leaked to the press.
**NGOs Were Not Warned**
Maj Stojanovic, from the Civic Initiative, said she did not receive any prior warning of the raid. She claimed that her personal bank account is being investigated under orders from the money-laundering department, which she says is illegal.
The police also raided the Center for Practical Policies NGO, which does not have any USAID projects. It’s unclear what prompted these investigations and raids.
**Investigations Ongoing**
The purpose of the police raids is to investigate possible misuse of USAID funding. The outcome of these investigations is still unknown.
