**Court Rules Against Investigative News Portal**
A Belgrade Appeals Court has upheld a sentence against the KRIK investigative network. The court found that an article written by the network was libelous.
The article in question featured quotes from a recorded conversation between criminals about Bratislav Gasic, who was head of Serbia’s top civilian security agency at the time. The quotes were taken from the trial of an organized crime group.
**Journalists Limited**
The court ruled that the journalists should have been more careful when writing about Gasic because he was in a position of power. The court said that journalists can report information, but they cannot explain what happened.
KRIK editor Stevan Dojcinovic said that his network was unfairly targeted by Gasic, who is a senior official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party. “We lost this case,” he said. “The most frightening thing is that the court’s decision is an attempt to censor the media.”
