**Communal Police Hang Separatist Banner in Novi Sad**
A local journalist in Novi Sad, a city in northern Serbia, reported seeing communal police officers hanging a banner that said “Vojvodina Republic” on a bridge. This is unusual because the Serbian authorities have been accusing their political opponents in the Vojvodina province of wanting to secede from Serbia.
The communal police in Novi Sad answer to the mayor and city administration, which are controlled by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Journalist Zarko Bogosavljevic said that regular police officers were present while the banner was being hung but did not do anything. He also noted that regime media immediately reported on separatists.
