Civic Activists Block Belgrade Bridge
Activists from the group “Bridge Remains Initiative” blocked a central bridge in Belgrade on Friday. They were paying tribute to the victims of the Novi Sad Railway Station tragedy.
The bridge, Brankov Bridge, was one of the main roads connecting the old and new parts of the city. The activists set up a road block at the city end of the bridge. Traffic police redirected drivers around the area.
People attending the event carried banners with the names of the 15 people who died in the tragedy on November 1. The group is trying to prevent the demolition of another old bridge, Old Savski Bridge.
