It is unfortunate that the OSCE/ODIHR will not observe the local elections, although there had been an offer to observe the October 4 elections, – said Natia Ioseliani, the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, responding to the OSCE/ODIHR decision that they will not be able to send an observation mission to the local elections.
As she noted at the press conference held at the Kvira Media Holding Press Club, at the moment, 16 international and 9 local observation organizations have been registered.
“In order for a healthy election environment to exist, there must be observation. We welcome all organizations that submit the documentation required by law for registration to the election administration within the appropriate deadlines. It is unfortunate that OSCE/ODIHR will not observe the local elections, although there had been an offer to observe the October 4 elections. The election administration is ready to register all organizations that submit applications within the specified deadlines, and these deadlines are September 24 for local observation organizations, September 27 for international observation organizations, and September 29 for media accreditation. At the moment, 16 international organizations and 9 local observation organizations have already been registered. However, as I mentioned, there are deadlines. For us, the election administration, of course, as always, and now too, the participation of both local and international organizations in this process is important,” he said. Natia Ioseliani.
