Serbian Orthodox Bishop Compares Students to WW2 Fascists
The bishop in charge of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s Krusevac diocese has written a strongly-worded opinion piece comparing protesting students to Croatian fascists who fought alongside Nazi Germany during World War 2.
Bishop David wrote on the church’s website that the students are being taught by instructors who want to turn them into “Serbian Ustashas”, referring to the fascist group responsible for the persecution and killing of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Roma people. He claimed that the protests were a form of colored revolution.
The bishop’s comments seem to support President Aleksandar Vucic’s claims that the students are trying to stage a coup.
