**Tensions Rise Ahead of Local Elections in Georgia**

As the country gears up for local elections, tensions are running high between rival parties and factions. Berdia Sichinava, Executive Secretary of the party “For Georgia”, recently spoke out against opposition groups that are calling for an election boycott.

Sichinava accused opposition parties of engaging in a “dirty campaign” and spreading “aggressive messages” to undermine the elections. He pointed out that the only group that has previously tried to disrupt precincts was the ruling Georgian Dream government, not the opposition.

**Election Boycott: A Threat to Democracy?**

The opposition’s call for an election boycott is seen by many as a threat to democratic processes in Georgia. Sichinava argued that this move would only serve to further entrench the current regime and prevent any meaningful change.

“I won’t respond to the opposition exactly as they deserve,” said Sichinava, “but what’s coming from them is a dirty campaign and unhinged messaging.” He emphasized that his party is committed to transparency and fair play, and is willing to work with anyone who shares these values.

**Internal Party Differences: A Normal Part of Democracy**

Sichinava also addressed internal party differences, saying that differing opinions are normal in any democratic organization. “Many have come and gone – that’s not a problem,” he said. He emphasized that final decisions are made by majority vote, and that the vast majority of his party members believe participating in the elections is the right choice.

**Prime Minister Under Fire**

Sichinava also took aim at Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who recently made a statement about the local elections. Sichinava accused Kobakhidze of being “historically and legally doomed to defeat” and suggested that it may not be the opposition that delivers his political sentence – but rather Ivanishvili himself.

**A City in Crisis**

Sichinava also spoke out against the recent tragedy at Station Square in Tbilisi, where two people were killed and one injured by a collapsing building. He expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

“This is not just negligence – this is a crime committed with indirect intent,” said Sichinava. “Someone closed their eyes. Someone didn’t do their job.” He emphasized that this tragedy highlights the need for change in Georgia’s municipal politics, and that his party will use every line of resistance to ensure the country becomes a “city of life” again.
