On Thursday, university students from Belgrade started a march towards Novi Sad. They plan to join 24-hour bridge blockade in the northern Serbian city on Saturday.

The students were joined by mothers of handicapped children and other supporters outside the Arts University School of Drama Arts in Belgrade. The march is around 90 kilometers long.

Internal Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said that police will provide security for the students along their route from Belgrade to Novi Sad.

**Protests Over Train Station Collapse**

The march is part of protests across Serbia over the collapse of a concrete awning at the recently-reconstructed Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1. 15 people died in the incident.

**Public Invited to Join March**

The students are inviting the public to join them for their 2-day trek to Novi Sad.

**First Day’s Progress**

On Thursday, the marchers stopped in Nova Pazova, where locals and residents from nearby areas prepared refreshments and greeted them with applause and whistles. They also passed through Stara Pazova, where farmers came with tractors to show support.

The students were treated to a hearty dinner and music played as they rested. They quickly covered the 10-kilometer stretch between Nova Pazova and Stara Pazova, filled with energy, stories, and laughter.

**Arrival in Indjija**

After their dinner break, the marchers set off towards the town of Indjija, arriving around 9:30 pm. They had previously announced their arrival time.

The students walked around 40 kilometers over about 10 hours to reach Indjija, where they planned to stay overnight.

**Student Reaction**

Students Kaca and Dina said that despite being very tired, they felt a renewed sense of optimism upon seeing the “Indjija” sign. They were struck by the constant support from people along their route, which fostered an ongoing positive energy and sense of unity.
