**Australia and New Zealand Impose Sanctions on Russia**

The governments of Australia and New Zealand have announced new sanctions against Russia. This move comes as the world marks three years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

**Australia Takes Tough Stance**

Australia has introduced its most extensive package of sanctions yet, targeting 70 individuals and 79 organizations linked to Russia. These measures aim to restrict Russian government officials and those involved in deepening cooperation with North Korea.

North Korea has been a key ally for Russia during the war, providing artillery, ballistic missiles, and soldiers to fight against Ukraine. Australia’s new sanctions also target individuals and entities involved in this support.

**New Zealand Also Takes Action**

New Zealand has announced sanctions on 52 individuals and entities, including those involved in Russia’s military-industrial complex, energy sector, and forced relocation of Ukrainian children. The country’s Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, said these measures will restrict Russian NGOs and charitable foundations.

Additionally, New Zealand has sanctioned a senior North Korean military officer who provided strategic assistance to Russia’s military efforts. This move is part of the country’s ongoing efforts to support Ukraine against Russian aggression.

**Financial Support for Ukraine**

Both Australia and New Zealand have shown their commitment to supporting Ukraine by providing financial aid. Australia has donated over 1.5 billion Australian dollars ($960 million) since 2022, while New Zealand has contributed an additional 3 million New Zealand dollars ($1.7 million) to the World Bank-administered Ukraine Relief Trust Fund.
