At Orbeliani Square, where tensions escalated multiple times during yesterday’s protest rally, riot police (GDD) remain present, and water cannon vehicles are stationed on site.
Concurrently, cleanup operations are underway around the Presidential Palace, with workers reinstalling tiles and repairing other damaged infrastructure.
As for the Presidential Palace, whose fence was destroyed by rally participants yesterday, it remains damaged, and repair work has not yet started.
Regarding the legislative body, law enforcement officers are mobilized at the site.
As a reminder, a protest rally took place in the capital yesterday. The situation escalated after those gathered at Freedom Square moved toward the Presidential Palace on Atoneli Street.
Specifically, after citizens broke down the fence and entered the palace courtyard, a confrontation occurred with special forces. The special forces used so-called pepper spray against the citizens. Protesters at the Atoneli Palace were dispersed using water cannons. Later, the rally continued near the legislative body.
According to the Ministry of Health, as a result of the events in Tbilisi on October 4, emergency medical teams transferred six rally participants and 21 law enforcement officers to medical facilities.
Additionally, as a result of yesterday’s events, the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained members of the “National Movement,” Murtaz Zodelava and Irakli Nadiradze, one of the leaders of the “Rustaveli Avenue” movement, Paata Burchuladze, one of the leaders of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” Paata Manjgaladze, and Colonel Lasha Beridze.
