**Tbilisi Elections: A Dirty Game for the Opposition**

In Georgia, the local government elections are just around the corner, and some politicians have decided to try their luck against the ruling party “Georgian Dream”. However, according to opposition politician Armaz Akhvediani, this move is nothing but a desperate attempt to wrest control from Ivanishvili’s regime. Speaking on PalitraNews’ program “Daily Newsroom”, Akhvediani said that these politicians are entering a dirty game that they will inevitably lose.

**Lack of Resources and Public Support**

Akhvediani emphasized that the opposition parties, including “Lelo/Strong Georgia” and “Gakharia for Georgia”, lack both the resources and public support to take down the regime. He warned that this futile attempt will not only fail to dismantle the current government but also undermine Georgian statehood.

**New Force Needed**

The opposition politician stressed that what’s needed is a fundamental change in the opposition’s political landscape. A new force must emerge, one that can actually challenge the ruling party and bring about real change in the country. Akhvediani and those standing with him are committed to ensuring a great national consensus in Georgia, which has been undermined by Ivanishvili’s anti-Western, anti-national, and Putinist regime.

**Giorgi Gakharia’s Future**

When asked about Giorgi Gakharia, the politician hinted that if Ivanishvili and Kobakhidze deem it necessary, they might even reach him abroad. Akhvediani compared this possibility to the Belarusian-style experience, where opponents of the regime are either silenced or exiled.

**Visa Liberalization**

Akhvediani also warned about the potential suspension of visa liberalization for Georgians traveling to Europe. He attributed this possible outcome to the anti-European policy pursued by Ivanishvili’s government. The opposition politician emphasized that the cancellation of visa liberalization would be a direct crime, and “Georgian Dream” would bear full responsibility.

**Repressive Policy Drives People Away**

Akhvediani also commented on statements made by members of the ruling party about the outflow of citizens and emigrants. He countered that it is actually Ivanishvili’s repressive policy that is driving people to leave Georgia, not visa liberalization. The opposition politician pointed out that this is a shameful and deplorable approach, reminiscent of the Soviet authorities’ treatment of dissidents.
