**Opposition Politician Proposes National Council to Save Georgia**
Armaz Akhvlediani, an opposition politician in Georgia, is proposing the creation of a “National Consensus Council for the Salvation of Georgia.” The council would be made up of 15-20 citizens with different experiences and backgrounds.
According to Akhvlediani’s Facebook post, the council should have the power to shift the protest energy and the entire process to a new stage that will be devastating for the current regime. He believes that the regime is trying to exhaust the people, instill hopelessness, and make them give up on freedom and normality.
Akhvlediani listed several methods that he thinks the regime is using to achieve its goals, including:
* Passing unjust laws
* Strengthening the police system
* Destroying neutral state institutions
* Subordinating the public sector
* Marginalizing opposition parties
To save Georgia from this nightmare, Akhvlediani proposes the creation of a National Consensus Council that can take the protest energy to a new level and defeat authoritarianism. The council would be made up of wise citizens who are trusted by the people, brave, decent, and incorruptible.
Akhvlediani believes that this council could become the guarantor of defeating authoritarianism and achieving irreversible democratic development through fair elections.
