**New Law Proposed for TV and Radio Broadcasters**
A new law is being planned to protect human rights and freedom of expression in Georgia. The law will ensure that broadcasters follow fair and impartial reporting practices.
**Self-Regulation Not Working**
Currently, self-regulation by broadcasters does not work well in Georgia. Under the new law, a person can complain about unfair reporting directly to the Communications Regulatory Commission, as well as to the self-regulation body.
**New Rules for Broadcasters**
The proposed law requires broadcasters to:
* Report news fairly and impartially
* Separate facts from opinions
* Not have politicians or officials present news programs
* Avoid spreading personal attitudes or opinions in news reports
These rules are designed to ensure that the public receives accurate information and can make its own assessment, rather than relying on biased reporting.
**Goal of the Law**
The goal of this law is to prevent and adequately respond to violations by broadcasters. The government believes this law will bring Georgia closer to European standards for human rights protection.
