**Protests in Serbia on Statehood Day**
International media reported on the protests happening in Serbia on Saturday. The protests took place on the country’s Statehood Day, with two parallel rallies held by students and supporters of President Aleksandar Vucic.
The rallies had very different messages. Students chose Kragujevac as the location for their rally because it was where a new constitution was announced in the 19th century to limit the powers of the rulers at that time.

Some students even walked from other cities to join the rally in Kragujevac. The accident has become a symbol of wider discontent with the government’s authoritarian rule.
**President Vucic’s Message**
At the same time, President Vucic held a rally in Sremska Mitrovica with a different message. He is expected to say that the West wants to force him out of power and this could lead to Serbia breaking apart.
